This senior position within the integrity team has responsibility to manage both the Pipeline Integrity Team and the Corrosion and Materials Team. This is a critical role within the Integrity team with responsibility for communicating with the wider business, to be alert to production events which may impact integrity of the plant and to bring together results from the two teams to inform integrity management strategies to allow safe continued operation of the plant.

The pipelines integrity team is responsible for managing the SNS network of 2,500km of onshore and offshore pipelines, subsea and topside sections. This includes prescribing suitable inspection plans, reviewing inspection findings and prescribing appropriate repair and future management strategies to ensure SNS pipelines remain fit for use for Perenco UK. Additionally they are also responsible for liaison with the regulators to ensure compliance with in service pipeline management and also legislation compliance with projects and pipeline changes.

The Corrosion & Materials team is responsible for review and analysis of process chemistry and adjusting corrosion inhibition strategies for SNS pipelines and topside pressure systems. The team manages cathodic protection systems, corrosion coupons, sand monitors and probes to further inform corrosion risk predictions and inspection strategies. Additional key responsibilities include pipeline life prediction, erosion management, welding, process change reviews and their impact on erosion and corrosion, project material selection and production and process chemistry. The team performs failure investigation work across all disciplines within the business to determine root cause of component, process and system failures to avoid repeat failures in future and improve production reliability.

Whilst this role is office based there will be a requirement to travel offshore periodically.

Safety & Environmentally Critical Tasks:

• Immediate recognition of defects & anomalies which represent a serious threat to safety/integrity & timely/appropriate communication, notification and advice to integrity engineers, line management & operations staff as appropriate.

• Incident and investigation - be able to technically support a thorough investigation of a serious incident or accident to ensure lessons are learned and to assist in managing reputation with regulators.

• Corrosion & Materials Specialist – act as engineering authority / competent person for corrosion, material and welding technology issues with specific responsibility for corrosion modelling and corrosion inhibition regimes. Further responsibilities include specialist support to investigations and other departments, and welding activities quality assurance and control.

Experience / Qualifications:

• A recognised chemical, mechanical, corrosion or metallurgy degree and chartered status (or working toward).
• At least 15 years' experience in Process / Petrochemicals Industry, with 5 years' experience in onshore/offshore oil & gas. Ideally with management experience. Relevant experience should include pipeline, plant & equipment design, integrity and performance analysis and experience of managing corrosion control & mitigation systems.
• Analytic eye for detail, a pro-active, hands on and innovative approach to problem solving and good interpersonal, IT and communication skills

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage the pipelines and corrosion and materials teams to deliver an overall integrity management strategy for SNS pipelines. Responsible for resource management and technical quality leadership
• Be the focal point for materials, corrosion and welding advice to the integrity team and wider SNS business
• Responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of the pipeline integrity management strategy (PIMS) for onshore and offshore, subsea and topside pipelines and risers.
• Responsible for the development, review and maintenance of PUK's corrosion mitigation systems for onshore & offshore pipelines, wells, fixed equipment and structures and the associated control strategies. To include, but not limited to, corrosion management strategy, CP strategies, corrosion inhibition strategies, sampling requirements, monitoring and assessment.
• Responsible for development and maintenance of pipeline corrosion models and incorporate in to life assessment reports for regular communication with the operation.
• Develop & maintain pipeline and corrosion management tools within PUK's electronic integrity database (TiM)
• Reporting - Develop, maintain and publish a quarterly corrosion control report, including appropriate KPI's. Publish an annual summary report for pipelines and corrosion and materials
• Regulatory – undertake HSE liaison for technical discussion, audits and any consents and licences for new and existing facilities.
• Manage and review the approval of external studies by specialist contractors, as appropriate
• Manage costs by controlling spending and promoting a challenging cost culture to ensure we get value from suppliers and contractors.
• Act as control authority in the Management of Change process (PMP/eMOC) providing technical assurance to modifications. Deliverables – safe completion of projects & modifications
• Carry out failure investigation and defect assessment by way of metallurgical analysis for plant and equipment failures involving corrosion, vibration, impact, stress manufacturing and over-pressure failure modes, etc, where necessary
• Fulfil the role of team member within the Pressure Systems “Competent Body” (RBI Team) to meet the expectations of onshore PSSR & COMAH Scheme for onshore Terminals, offshore assets and the expectations within IPPPS. Attend regular review meetings and provide corrosion engineering support and guidance.
• Act as Chairman of the SNS Erosion forum and ambassador of solids management strategies for the integrity team. Ensure momentum of the erosion forum throughout the SNS business is maintained. Ensures good communication of erosion risks is achieved across the SNS Operational business
